AirAsia Expands its Indonesia Route Network; Adds Flights to Pontianak and Jakarta

AirAsia is delighted to announce the addition of new routes to its network. Starting from June 5, 2017, AirAsia will operate daily direct flights to Pontianak, Indonesia from Kuching, Malaysia. In addition, AirAsia Indonesia will begin thrice-a-week direct flight service between Jakarta and Macau from August 7, 2017. The airline targets to increase this service from three to four weekly flights soon. To cater the growing travel demand from Chinese and Indian tourists to Indonesia, the airline is launching the new Jakarta-Macau route.

Pontianak is the AirAsia Indonesia’s second international destination and also marks 10th destination from Kuching. The latest route will enhance the connectivity between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Air Asia’s head of commercial Spencer Lee said in a statement: “Pontianak offers a unique experience for travellers with it being one of the 12 cities that straddle the Equator. We are confident this new route will contribute to the five million tourists target for Sarawak this year aside from boosting the local economy and trade sector.”
